The Boxcar Boys

With airplay on over 40+ stations across Canada The Boxcar Boys flew up the radio charts culminating in #7 debut position on the Earshot Top 10 National Jazz Charts.

The Boxcar Boys create their distinct, energetic and at times maudlin sound by weaving together a captivating bevy of folk traditions, Dixieland jazz and Klezmer performed with a good ole time New Orleans spirit. Their presence on the Canadian music scene over the last 5 years, including 2 full length albums Don’t Be Blue (2011) and Rye Whiskey (2012) has earned them a Canadian Folk Music Award nomination as well as a place on EJazzNews list of Best Canadian Jazz Bands.

“….a high-energy and musically accomplished roots ensemble.”
NEW CANADIAN MUSIC

“Everyone knows that Canada is world-renowned for its jazz scene. What? Well, after listening to The Boxcar Boys it should be.”
YORKTON THIS WEEK

“…a distinct, energetic and at times nostalgic sound by weaving together a captivating bevy of folk traditions, Dixieland jazz and Klezmer performed with a good ole time New Orleans spirit…”
CASHBOX CANADA

“just about every American 'roots' music sub genre blended into a highly entertaining stew.”
AMERICAN ROOTS U.K.

“Inspired by different folk sounds including klezmer, jazz, and folk fusion, The Boxcar Boys released their latest album, Cicada Ball, this fall.”
MOTHER CHURCH PEW

“Cicada Ball is decorated with distinctive elements of Dixieland Jazz, Gypsy campfire rhythms, and Klezmer performed with the precision of chamber music caught in the abandon of a New Orleans street parade. The Boxcar Boys magically transform instruments pre-determined as serious (clarinet, tuba, and trombone) by letting them mix it up with the street corner savvy of a fiddle attending a front porch party with an accordion and washboard.”
